BLACK MOUNTAIN — Fresh Wood Fired Pizza and Pasta will open its doors this weekend for a Grand Opening celebration from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday to sample the cuisine of Black Mountain’s newest eatery.

Owners Mark Tomczak and Courtney Smith opened the restaurant to share their love of fresh, local, healthy and well-prepared food. The restaurant is at 100 S. Ridgeway Ave. in Black Mountain.

Tomczak plans to use local farms and farm cooperatives like Foothills Family Farms and the Black Mountain Farmer’s Market to obtain local produce without trucking.

"We will use organic flour milled in Graham county, beer from local micro-breweries including Highlands and Pisgah, local roaster Dynamite Coffee, and goat cheese and dairy from local creameries,” Smith said.

The menu features wood-fired pizza baked in an oven shipped from Italy and assembled by Tomczak and crew on site.

In addition to pizza, patrons can choose from a variety of fresh salads and starters and homemade soups, as well as fresh pasta and bread.
